I always prefer code with inline comments. Similarly, you can learn most of this just by exploring a well-commented example project, because JAX-RS is a rather straightforward framework. I think the ideal JAX-RS documentation would just be a walk through of such a project, with some extra text to explain where the code might have done things differently.

It would then be a smaller book, but I'd love to see that as part of a bigger book that explored the wider issues involved in designing, implementing, and monitoring fully scalable systems. I really liked the way this book was written and the fact that author discusses several different approaches to achieve something and also provides his opinion on what to use, when, and why.

These opinions are usually backed by his REST experience or industry standards and practices.

The chapters are well-structured and quite enjoyable to read, and the topics become more advanced as the reader progresses through the book. However, the pace remains pretty consistent and explanation is always comprehensible and to the point.

The places the book falls short for me are phrases like: Although he points you to many excellent web references, I personally feel a little more explanation would have helped, even if this involved a little repetition.

Do you know what? I am not interested in a C.

I will read a biography if I was interested in a life story, which I do not and am not. Overall I loved the book, the style was good, and the pace was enjoyable. Thank you.

My only grip with the book is that some of the example code are over-simplified and thus not suitable for use in production environments. Book was resourceful. It is good for beginners and intermediates. Pages and cover are clean and intact.
