This book is so difficult to read. I realised that I was so used to something being not quite right, that I couldn't trust the book even if it said I was right. I cannot put people off this book enough. I was completely demoralised working through this. It's just terrible.
I love Physics, I'm going to Uni to study physics, I'm getting good grades in Physics, but all of that is in spite of this book. An older textbook will have all of the same Physics in it, you just need to read your exam board's syllabus and pick and choose the bits you need to learn.
Older textbooks are almost guaranteed to have everything in there, so they don;t arbitrarily skip bits out because some beurocrat decided that one bit of Physics was good to learn, but another bit wasn't. Akrill for practice, Muncaster for theory.
Stay away from this terrible book. Good luck with your studying. I'm in absolutely no way whatsoever associated with anyone mentioned in this review.
I don't have an agenda, I just can't in good conscience fail to tell people how bad this is, and how there are many other great resources out there that don't make studying Physics an absolute burden. All good.
I am satisfied.
The book itself is actually ok, although there are some concepts it doesn't explain very well the majority of the subjects are explained very nicely, and in great detail and even those that weren't explain too well made sense with some cross referencing with other books which as a self teaching home learner you should be doing regardless of book quality.
There are also a wide variety of examples explaining concepts, test your self questions, activity sections which consider that you may be a home learner and so usually gives you tables of data you could expect from said experiments to work with and has extensive exam style examples to work through at the end of each chapter.

The problem is that the answers, which can be accessed by scanning the QR codes at the back of the book, have numerous mistakes and a decent proportion are completely wrong. One in particular that springs to mind is an experiment to determine how the concentration of a sugar solution affects the polarisation angle of light traveling through the solution to a polarising filter.
As I said the book prvoides data for you to answer the question with if you can't do the experiment, in this case a table of sugar concentration against angle of polarisation, and it asks you to draw a graph and use it to figure out what angle would result from a solution not on the table.
The answer is that 0. This is just one example, others are dotted throughout the answer pages. The answers to the book have clearly been rushed, and no one has proof read the answers, the result being that I spent as much time trying to work out if it was me who was wrong or correct or if it is the book! This has lead to the book being almost useless to me since as a self teaching home learner I have no teachers to turn to, and must rely on the book being correct, unfortunately I have lost all confinence which makes testing myself with the answers pointless, and so arguably the most important part of any course book, the practice questions, are rendered useless.
